Bikhata Birmans is a small cattery owned by Sue DeLadi and John Japs located in Bloomington, MN. Our cattery is registered in the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and is a continuation of the Bikhata cattery founded by Mark and Charlotte Stolpe of St. Paul, MN. The Stolpe’s were longtime Birman breeders and showed many Birmans in CFA to regional and national wins. One of their cats, GRC Bikhata’s Felicia, was CFA’s Best Birman in 1984-1985.
I had the privilege of working in a breeding program with the Stolpe’s after I purchased my first Birman from them in 1983, Bikhata’s Gabriel. I was introduced to showing and then breeding cats thru Mark and Char and my first litter was born in 1984. My love of this breed has continued to this day.
Prior to my show cats I was involved in breeding, training and showing AQHA Registered Quarter horses and Lhasa Apso dogs for over twenty-five years. Many people who knew me and my horses knew I liked horses with white stockings. When I attended my first cat show and saw the Birmans with white feet, that was it, my search for a purebred cat was over and I’ve had Birman cats exclusively ever since. I am a member of National Birman Fanciers, the Birman Breed Council, Twin City Cat Fanciers Cat Club and actively show my cats in CFA shows.
Kittens from CFA Grand Champion and Champion lines are available occasionally to approved homes by reservation. Our kittens are raised lovingly underfoot with much care and attention. They are sold with a written Health Guarantee/Contract and have their first years shots. Please feel free to contact us regarding kitten availability or to see if we have a retired show cat or breeder looking for a forever home.
